Animation Entertainment Challenges

Have some ideas regarding this topic. Please feel free to critique!

1. Determining possible market segments and targeting the most valuable. (Concept of the "long tail" and market fragmentation - so many tastes and genres - comes into play.)

2. Where is the value obtained and maintained within the overall value chain from sourcing/innovation to sales/distribution. (Example: Don't wish to be a commodity provider of content for other operators.)

3. How to market and operate both inside and outside of Australia. Must understand national, cultural, and individual demographical preferences.

4. Marketing/Partnering/Suppying within Industry versus marketing/selling directly to consumers. (Example: can have/own the content but operate within the confined of somebody else's studio production system, e.g. Disney, or go it alone.)

5. New Product Development effectiveness within this industry. What's best practice interms of costs, lead-times, content, etc? Is there an animation enterntainment product lifecycle process?
